“Direi infine che semplicità significa parlare chiaro. Parlare chiaro vuol dire usare bene un linguaggio, dire (far segni) cose “belle” con quel linguaggio; vuol dire dar segno sensibile e convincente del mistero (del nostro esserne parte); vuol dire aver ridotto il caos a complessità e assumere e sentire quella difficile complessità come segno positivo della vita.”

Guido Strazza (1922) è considerato il maggiore incisore italiano del Novecento. Le sue lettere didattiche sono lezioni artistiche ed esistenziali: per fare arte bisogna imparare a leggere i segni del mondo e scoprire il proprio “essere nel mondo”.

“Speaking clearly means using language well, saying (making signs) “beautiful” things with that language; it means giving a sensitive and convincing sign of the mystery (of our being part of it); it means having reduced chaos to complexity, and taking on and feeling that difficult complexity as a positive sign of life.”

Guido Strazza (b. 1922) is considered the greatest Italian engraver of the twentieth century. His didactic letters are artistic and existential lessons: To make art, one must learn to read the signs of the world and discover one’s own “being in the world.”
